Taking the Lead

Making a Difference, one Leader at a Time

On June 22nd, we held our annual Leadership Academy Recruitment dinner at the Simon Kenton Inn and we would like to thank all who attended. We especially want to thank the Simon Kenton Inn for hosting such a wonderful event for us! The food was delicious and the setting was beautiful.

There is much interest in the upcoming Leadership Academy class for 2010-2011, so be sure to send in your application soon. The first Academy session will be on Thursday, September 16 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Session One will again feature the very popular "Amazing Race-LCC Version."

Applications are due by July 31st and are available at www.leadershipclarkcounty.org or by contacting me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Help build our community, one leader at a time, by participating in the upcoming Community Leadership Academy or referring a friend or colleague who would benefit!

Best Memory:

"My best memory of Leadership Academy was getting to know and shadowing Lois Murphy. She was Director of the Clark County Cluster. I was inspired by her heart for and knowledge of the community, the various agencies and her ability to facilitate people working together for a common purpose."

Why LCC is important:

"Leadership Clark County is important because it provides an opportunity for people new, or not so new to the community, to gain valuable insight regarding its history, past and current leadership, systems, resources and challenges. For those who want to engage, LCC informs newcomers where are the greatest needs."

What I would tell potential applicants:

"Leadership Clark County is a great way to fast-track community involvement. I enjoyed meeting, and networking with fellow Academy members. Many of the relationships formed in my Leadership Academy class exist today."
