Learn to Lead

To address the evolving needs of a growing community, Leadership Clark County provides an annual, comprehensive learning program, known as the Community Leadership Academy. This program is an eight-session course focused on addressing community service, leadership skills and governance issues. Leadership Clark County seeks up to 30 participants for the Community Leadership Academy held September through February of each year.

Through a strategically  developed curriculum, the Community Leadership Academy provides its participants the opportunity to:

  • Discover Springfield's historical significance
  • Learn about and participate in local collaborative efforts.
  • Cultivate the appropriate skills necessary for board governance
  • Explore various fundraising techniques
  • Network with key community leaders and business professionals from both the nonprofit and for profit sectors.

The Community Leadership Academy sessions ro 2010 / 2011 have been set as follows:

Session 1 – September 16, 2010
Session 2 – October 7, 2010
Session 3 – October 28, 2010
Session 4 – November 18, 2010
Session 5 – December 9, 2010
Session 6 – January 6, 2011
Session 7 – January 27, 2011
Session 8 – February 17, 2011

All applications are reviewed by a volunteer selection committee which bases its decisions upon the criteria of an applicant’s leadership potential, and its desire to assemble a class that reflects the diversity of Clark County. All applicants will be notified by August 12th regarding their application.

Community Leadership Academy 2010 tuition is $850 and includes all instruction, session materials, continental breakfast, lunch at all sessions, and graduation dinner.

Applications and a non-refundable $35 application fee must be received by July 30, 2010. Tuition is due by September 16, 2010. Thanks to our generous sponsors, partial scholarships are available for persons who are accepted to the Academy and can demonstrate financial need. Contact the office for more details.
